Why Do We Want to Know?
Caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also affect your own health and wellbeing. By letting us know that you are a carer, we can:
- Make a note on your medical record that you are a carer.
- Help ensure you receive appropriate support and advice.
- Signpost you to local carers' services and organisations.
- Consider your caring responsibilities when arranging appointments.
-
You may be entitled to a free flu jab if you meet the eligibility criteria.
- Offer information about services that may help both you and the person you care for.
- Ensure you receive relevant health advice, vaccinations, and health checks where appropriate.
Who Is a Carer?
You may be a carer if you provide unpaid support to someone who:
- Has a long-term illness.
- Has a physical disability.
- Has learning disabilities.
- Has mental health difficulties.
- Is frail due to age.
- Has problems related to alcohol or drug misuse.
You do not have to live with the person you care for to be considered a carer.
